Washington Cosmetology License

The process for getting a license in cosmetology, nail technology, hairdressing, esthetics, or barbering from the state of Washington, all students must fulfill the requirements listed below by the Washington State Board of Cosmetology. When obtaining a Washington cosmetology license, there is no wrong path to take, as long as you have completed your coursework at a Washington cosmetology school.

As stated by the Washington State Board of Cosmetology, to obtain a Washington cosmetology license, one must have attended a Washington cosmetology school or when moving into the state, the Washington Board of Cosmetology, requires you to satisfy their guidelines.

After completing your training, Washington cosmetology license guidelines require you to pass a licensing exam issue by the Washington State Board of Cosmetology. Upon passing you will earn your Washington cosmetology license. You are now permitted to work in the state of Washington.

COSMETOLOGY: 1600 hours
BARBERING: 1000 hours
ESTHETICS: 600 hours

If you are currently licensed in another state or country and you have passed the state-approved national written and performance examinations, you are not required to re-take the exams to get a license in Washington State.
