New Hampshire Cosmetology License

The process for getting a license in cosmetology, nail technology, hairdressing, esthetics, or barbering from the state of New Hampshire, all students must fulfill the requirements listed below by the New Hampshire State Board of Cosmetology. When obtaining a New Hampshire cosmetology license, there is no wrong path to take, as long as you have completed your coursework at a New Hampshire cosmetology school.

As stated by the New Hampshire State Board of Cosmetology, to obtain a New Hampshire cosmetology license, one must have attended a New Hampshire cosmetology school or when moving into the state, the New Hampshire Board of Cosmetology, requires you to satisfy their guidelines.

After completing your training, New Hampshire cosmetology license guidelines require you to pass a licensing exam issue by the New Hampshire State Board of Cosmetology. Upon passing you will earn your New Hampshire cosmetology license. You are now permitted to work in the state of New Hampshire.

New Hampshire State Board of Cosmetology Requirements
Barber: 800 hours or 1,600 hours apprentice
Cosmetology: 1,500 hours or 3,000 hours apprentice
Manicurist: 300 hours
Esthetics: 600 hours

Reciprocity
1,500 hours of Barbering or Cosmetology schooling or notarized letter stating you have 3,000 hours of work experience. Estheticians must have 600 hours of schooling or notarized letter stating you have 1,200 hours of work experience. Manicurist needs 300 hours of schooling or a notarized letter stating you have 600 hours of work experience.
