Minnesota Cosmetology License

The process for getting a license in cosmetology, nail technology, hairdressing, esthetics, or barbering from the state of Minnesota, all students must fulfill the requirements listed below by the Minnesota State Board of Cosmetology. When obtaining a Minnesota cosmetology license, there is no wrong path to take, as long as you have completed your coursework at a Minnesota cosmetology school.

As stated by the Minnesota State Board of Cosmetology, to obtain a Minnesota cosmetology license, one must have attended a Minnesota cosmetology school or when moving into the state, the Minnesota Board of Cosmetology, requires you to satisfy their guidelines.

After completing your training, Minnesota cosmetology license guidelines require you to pass a licensing exam issue by the Minnesota State Board of Cosmetology. Upon passing you will earn your Minnesota cosmetology license. You are now permitted to work in the state of Minnesota.

Minnesota State Board of Cosmetology Additional Requirements
An applicant must have at least a twelfth grade education or a G.E.D. Electrology is not licensed by the State but may be regulated by the local municipality. Reciprocity may be granted to currently licensed applicants who pass the Minnesota Board Exam and who have at least 1800 hours of licensed experience within the last three years.
